Make your website pop. If it takes more than eights seconds for it to load you've lost your customers attention. Though it may "Float your boat," a poorly designed site can run customers away.  Always ask others  to view your site and tell you what they think, make it a survey, and tell them you had rather have the truth about your site. You've built your website and are ready to jump in with both feet.  Someone you trust and believe knows a lot about the internet suggests you use email to get the word out about the company.  You've heard of email and can spell the word but the internet is so new to you that you don't know which way is up.

    • Your comfort zone is that place where you feel comfortable and it takes little or no effort to stay there.
    • Now the truth is, you're in business and you will almost never be in a comfort zone.  Payroll, employee interaction, billing, or just making ends meet. The only comfort zone in business is looking at the reports at the end of the month and seeing that your are growing and prospering. Does this scare you, good, because it is at this point where you have to make the decision about your comfort zone.
    • You will have to learn to live outside your comfort zone almost totally if you are going to have a successful business.  Each decision you make will be based on your research and knowledge, but in the end it will most assuredly be made with a bit of chance taking place. This is outside your comfort zone, and happens each day. 

  • If you wait to make a decision when you are absolutely sure it will work, you will never make one. The ones you do make will not improve your company and you will eventually fail. Taking chances is a diverse part of owning a business.
  • You have a new program that will make your website just POP! In order to purchase the software you will have to cut back in other areas. The research team has taken the time to run a survey revealing there's a seventy-five percent chance it will improve the traffic to the site. The negatives in purchasing the product right now includes cutting back on advertising and putting one existing job in jeopardy. After getting the software and having it installed, there will be a three to four month learning curve before any benefit could possibly be realized. Several sleepless nights ahead, and still no comfort zone answer.
  •  A booming base voice is heard in the back of your mind, "Danger, you are leaving your comfort zone, beware, beware!"
  • With shaking hand you take pen in hand and sign the Purchase Order to go ahead and purchase the software.
  • After a shaky six months the traffic to the site is beginning to really show a noticeable rise in traffic. Sales could be a little better, but all-in-all a wise decision was made.
  • Not once in this process were you in your comfort zone, but in the end this was what was needed for your business to grow. Always take the time to research fully any move you are about to make. Take into account everything that could happen by the decision you are about to make. Talk with others who have made the same decision and have purchased the same product. This is all that you can do, but then again it is business and has to be done.

Constantly keep a watch on your investment, your website.  Each separate section needs to be groomed and updated to maintain the appeal to your visitors.  You need to learn to quantify each aspect of your investment. Your website has stats on the number of hits that occur each day, use these to your advantage.  If a part of your site is not being looked at, find out why, it's your keep to success.
